What is Inflammation?
Inflammation refers to the body’s process of fighting against things that harm it, such as infections, toxins, and injuries, in an attempt to heal itself. While inflammation is necessary because it plays a role in the healing process, too much can be detrimental. When your cells have been damaged, your body releases chemicals that trigger a response from your immune system. These chemicals come from your body’s white blood cells and enter the bloodstream or tissues to protect you from invaders. When inflammation happens in response to a foreign body or a pathogen, it helps fight it off. However, chronic inflammation is believed to contribute to various diseases. Sometimes, the body mistakenly perceives its cells or tissues as harmful, leading to autoimmune diseases. Other inflammatory illnesses may contribute to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
There are two different types of inflammatory diseases. There is acute and chronic inflammation. Acute is typically short-term, whereas chronic is long-term.
What Causes Inflammation?
Inflammation occurs when a physical factor triggers an immune response. Most of the time, it results from pathogens, infections, injuries. A great example would be a bee sting. Chronic inflammatory disease can result from many things, such as hypersensitivity, long-term exposure to a harmful substance or pathogen, or autoimmune disorders. Both acute and chronic inflammation can be painful, which is why it’s crucial to control it.
How to Treat Inflammation:
There are a variety of treatments. Most of the time, antibiotics or anti-inflammatory meds are used for infections. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are often used for pain and swelling, such as Tylenol and Advil. However, NSAIDs will not remove the root cause it will only help with symptoms.
A great and natural way to treat inflammation is to take glutathione orally or apply it topically. Glutathione is an antioxidant capable of preventing damage to important cellular components in the body. Our bodies naturally produce glutathione from the liver, but we still need a little boost sometimes. Glutathione is considered an inhibitor of the inflammatory response and can successfully help control inflammation. Another homeopathic treatment is using infrared light therapy. Infrared light can alleviate chronic inflammatory disease by increasing blood flow to damaged tissues and increasing the body’s antioxidant defenses. This type of light therapy stimulates your cells and reduces oxidative stress. Infrared light works directly on the mitochondria, known as the cell’s powerhouse, and helps produce more ATP (energy). So, if you are looking to treat your inflammation naturally and effectively, try glutathione and infrared light therapy before going straight to pharmaceuticals. This is something that affects everyone and can cause many discomforts, which is a great reason to get it under control and keep it under control!
